*** Things are Happening! ***

ONE PASSION …

Things are happening in Israel! Jews for Jesus, an international evangelistic organization, is ready to become our partner for the Hebrew website.

Things are also happening in Indonesia. We are testing an original evangelism approach in French via Facebook. Did you know that in Jakarta alone (capital of Indonesia) there are 17 million Facebook users? We are now in contact with an organization in the country for our first steps. Let’s pray...

Curious to see our Facebook version of ConnaitreDieu? Click on this link: http://tinyurl.com/connaitredieu Great, isn’t it? I like it!

Our "video learning platform" is ready. TopFormations is already running on it and soon we are going to use it to offer training specifically for people new to the faith like "12 Days to Discover the Bible" or "40 Days with Jesus".

Take heart, friends. The journey will be long, but our cause is wonderful.

*** It’s Your Mission! ***

Do you know what the last words of Jesus were to the eleven after his resurrection and just before being taken up into heaven?

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Jesus could have chosen a thousand and one words for his last speech to his followers. He could have told them again: “Love one another!” or invited them thus: “Relax after all these difficult events” or why not tell them: “Stay together and have fun, you’ve earned it!” But instead he asked them to separate, to move away from each other, and go far away. He could have told them to go to the next town, but at this moment, his call is to reach the nations.

Jesus’ call embraces all nations. It is not limited to my area, my circle of friends. The call of God is beyond me. It is open to all creation! Why? Because God desires that all men be saved, that all people hear the gospel wherever they may be.

In this time of Christmas, Jesus’ words still echo in my heart and I realize even more their significance: “Go, make disciples of all nations …”

But what do these words  “make disciples” really mean? How do you understand them? For me, this video explains it so well that I could not help but share it. It really touched me …

And you, what do you think? What is your mission?

God bless you in this holiday season and may he help us to rediscover our mission.

Together for changed lives,

Eric

*** One Vision … ***

In this photo I was 22 years old. The man in front is Billy Graham. My wife “happened to see” this photo while she was visiting the Billy Graham Headquarters in the USA. What an incredible memory to have seen thousands of people come to Jesus during the 1986 campaign at Bercy!

It was there that this vision and this passion for the salvation of souls were birthed in my heart. On the platform, behind this great evangelist, I prayed: “Lord, use my life. I would like to be an evangelist like him.”

Just one year prior to the campaign, I had been offered the opportunity to study at a technology university in my hometown, a job,  my driver’s license… but God had told me: “This isn’t my will.” With a heavy heart, I obeyed him.

Fortunately… If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have had that tremendous experience in 1986 and today, Top Chrétien and KnowingGod would probably not exist. Neither would I have met the most marvelous spouse  of whom a man can dream.

Thank you, Lord, for insisting that I take the narrow way. Twenty-five years later, I do not regret this choice, and I am so blessed to see the vision realized. Never would I have imagined that one day our team would help the Billy Graham Association announce the Gospel… in the USA! It’s happening today. Thousands of lives are reached every day. And we are delighted to give back what they did for us.

Thank you for your involvement in Top Chrétien’s vision. Each one of us has a part in this extraordinary plan of God.

“Whatever he tells you, do it” said Mary, the day of the marriage in Cana. Could you ask Jesus what he expects from you concerning Top Chrétien? Do just what he tells you to do :-)

Together for changed lives,

Eric

PS: I am currently en route to the United States with two Top Chrétien teammates, Michael Foucault and Marc Ariberti. In fact, we are going to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) as part of our partnership with Top Chrétien. I will once again meet with Franklin Graham (President of BGEA). Can you pray that God blesses this trip and that His grace be upon all of our appointments?

*** Hope for the Japanese! ***

March 11, 2011 will remain an infamous date for Japan. That day, the country was hit by a powerful earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale, causing a devastating tsunami. The human and material losses were heavy! The events that followed would confirm it!

Perhaps, right now, Japan is no longer in the headlines, but the painful Japanese reality has not changed. Beyond the material losses and the nuclear consequences that no one can ignore, what about the moral injury the Japanese suffered? How can they grieve and believe that this will not happen again? Japan is one of the countries in the world the most vulnerable to earthquakes. The country has one fifth of the world’s earthquakes of magnitude 6 or greater. In this context, where does one find peace? How does one heal and forget the past? How does one plan for the future with hope for a better tomorrow?

In our view, the answer lies in the one the Bible calls the Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ! We believe he is the only one who can make all things new! For several years, it has been the desire of our heart to reach the Japanese through the Internet, and ever since the tsunami, we have felt an urgency in our hearts. Action is needed now, not in 10 or 15 years! It is today, at the heart of their suffering, distress, deprivation, and trauma of all kinds that the Japanese need to hear this message of hope of the Gospel!

And God, who knows our hearts, permitted the opening of a “Jesus.net” office in Yokohama, Japan, just a few days ago. Our local partner, Andy Game, had already begun to mobilize people in prayer and action for Japan at the time that the tragic events struck Japan. There is already a movement in place, and here is the website: http://www.crashjapan.com/

Today, after months of prayer and effort, Andy has an official office on site. These premises were leased through the generosity of  the former owners, committed Christians, who rented their property at a reasonable price. These people have exercised their generosity, as many of you have done for us to be current owners of the Top Chrétien property.

For years, these premises were used for prayer for the city but also for the nations. And this action will be able to continue. Indeed, in these offices several meetings will be held, each one as rich as the other: pastoral meetings, e-coach training for the spiritual follow-up of Internet users who are searching, and non-stop prayer meetings twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

As of September, our partners in Japan will launch an exciting new project called “Hope for Life” in collaboration with several ministries. In April 2011, just one month after the disaster, partners from the Netherlands and Switzerland went to Japan to design the strategy and the websites for Japan. The KnowingGod website, 5 landing pages, and a WhyJesus website in Japanese are also being prepared and will be launched in the coming months. In addition, 10 video testimonies are being made to show God in the lives of the Japanese people. What grace to know that soon we will see displayed on the Google Earth map, real-time decisions of spiritually-seeking Japanese!

Our desire is that these offices serve to build the unity of Christ’s body, to create a passion for prayer, and also to find new ways to reach people searching on the Internet. It is a small stone in the edifice that God is building in Japan, but we pray that it triggers a spiritual tsunami. Below are some pictures of the offices purchased:

I think the most important need for the Japanese is that they know the only true God and His son, Jesus Christ! May these new Jesus.net offices in Japan be visited by the presence of God and may millions of Japanese hear the Gospel on the Internet and through new technologies!

Also, pray that lives are changed, support our partners in Japan in prayer or financially if God puts it on your heart. To do this, please contact us here and mention “Japan” in the notes so that your donation is specifically earmarked for this project!

*** Are You Creative? ***

Last week, a friend of mine sent me a video of a group that used iPads as musical instruments for Christmas songs! He said: “Eric, look at what was filmed in my church!”

As I like everything related to new technologies, I watched it. I liked it so much that I am sharing this innovation with you (see video below). Above all, do not miss the end …

I am often amazed by God’s creativity – the mountains, the ocean, plants, animals, etc.. Isn’t he called the creator? The Bible emphasizes that “since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen because they are understood through what has been made. (Romans 1:20)”

God’s creation is so varied and wonderful. Besides, if you read the last book of the Bible, you will discover an extraordinary sky that goes beyond all understanding. What creativity!

Yes, God is a creator, and he invites us to be like him because we were created in His image. Even though the Lord is so creative, we often try to fit our worship, our praise, our songs, etc. into a well-organized context that does not leave much room for innovation.

In this video, these Christians have exercised their creativity to play and sing Christmas Carols otherwise. And I think, in this way, they are beginning to reach a new technologically-trendy generation. Good job!

Does your church creatively proclaim the Gospel? And you, are you creative when sharing the Good News? Why not tell us about your experience in this Top Blog?

I look forward to reading your comments. On behalf of the Top Chrétien team, from my heart, I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Feliz Navidad ! Merry Christmas !

Your friend,

Eric

*** Together for Changed Lives! ***

Just ten days ago, I asked you to pray for the Jesus.net Conference!

Your prayers were answered because God blessed us so much. He really did way beyond all that we could have imagined.

This conference brought together 75 people (coordinators of evangelism websites) from 21 countries. For four days we shared the progress we have been able to make in the different countries and we glorified God together!

We also took advantage of this special time together to invite Marie-France. Perhaps you remember her? Marie-France gave her heart to Jesus by connecting to the website ConnaitreDieu.com and we filmed her testimony during the fund-raising campaign for the purchase of the Top Chrétien offices.

Since her conversion, God has used her so that five new people experience faith in Jesus!  She is actually in her second year at the Cijem Force school. Isn’t that wonderful?

When Marie-France came to the conference, she spoke simply about what God had done in her life and we were very moved … Many of us cried as she finished sharing with the words: “I am a miracle!” What a blessing it was to hear live and in person the testimony of one of the people who has accepted Jesus as Savior on the Internet. We are so very thankful to God!

There are millions of “Marie-France” whom we would like to see come to Jesus in the coming years. Imagine God’s joy and the angels’ rejoicing in heaven!

I am sure that they are smiling as they watch this video that I counted on sharing with you!

Together for changed lives,

Eric

*** Sur la route ! ***

With Franklin Graham ...

Yes, it’s French and for those who do not know the language of Rousseau that means: on the road! I have been traveling a lot recently and I will be “on the road” again soon!

I wanted to keep you informed of my interview with Franklin Graham held last week. You probably remember the blog: Billy Graham’s Son, and perhaps you even prayed for this appointment? If so, thank you very much because this meeting was amazing. God did things beyond my expectations! This meeting was supposed to take 30 minutes, but instead, it lasted for 3 hours. It seems this never happens since Franklin Graham’s schedule is so tight due to his multiple activities (Franklin is also the president of Samaritan’s Purse, a charitable organization that distributes among other gifts, 8 million gift boxes for children at Christmas). At the end of the interview, with tears in his eyes, Franklin listened and shared his own experiences as well!

God's Ambassadors!

The purpose of this meeting with Franklin was to see whether a partnership would be possible between the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and Top Chrétien to reach even more people on the Internet with the Good News of Jesus Christ. And the first result is that five people (four vice-presidents and a director for the Internet) are coming  to Paris in three days to attend our Jesus.net conference, which will take place next week! Can you pray for this conference?

Jesus.net is the name that includes all our international activities, such as various websites -  ConnaitreDieu.com (16 languages) and also a discipleship website we use in several countries (WhyJesus). At the conference, there will be 75 people (website coordinators) from 21 countries! We will discuss the progress made in different countries and give glory to God together! It’s just wonderful to see what God’s grace has accomplished, and it’s so encouraging to see so many people find Jesus as their Savior through the Internet. To Him be the glory!

With Stéphan and Jean Claude, a French chef we met at BGEA

After the Jesus.net conference, I have to go to South Africa for a conference that focuses on world evangelism. Four thousand representatives from around the world will gather to reflect on the proclamation of the Gospel, share and pray together (see my page on the website Lausanne.org). Some people will represent France. The conference was initiated by Billy Graham in Lausanne in 1974. That’s why it’s called the Lausanne Conference. It occurs very rarely and mobilizes hundreds of thousands of people worldwide (The Lausanne Movement) so that the name of Jesus, the only name given among men by which we can be saved, still be proclaimed forever!

The Top team has provided somewhat outmoded but very humorous communication for this conference to mobilize the troops for evangelism through the Internet. I will tell you all about it in an upcoming blog. Fasten your seat belts, we will soon take off ;-)

Be Blessed!

Your friend,

Eric

*** Billy Graham’s Son ***

Those of you who know something about my life story are aware that my first full-time job, after military service, was working for Billy Graham. That was 25 years ago in 1986! At that time, I had the opportunity to pursue graduate studies at a university specializing in Computer Science in Toulouse. I gladly accepted, but after praying, I realized that God’s will was something entirely different! I had to return to my mother’s home in the Paris area. Young in the faith, it was not easy for me to obey, and I must admit that I resisted as much as I could. But one day I surrendered and I said to God, “If it’s what you want, then I’ll do it. You win!” It was the end of my computer dreams … At least, that’s what I thought, but you know Top Chrétien and you see that God had the final word!

At that time, I found myself unemployed! That lasted six months. After six months, I was desperate. I didn’t understand what was happening to me. I prayed to God, saying, “I can’t take this anymore. I am in this situation because I wanted to obey you. You’ve got to help me!” Shortly afterward, the phone rang, and Marcel, an elder from my church in Pontoise, said to me, “Have you ever heard of Billy Graham? He’s an American evangelist who is coming to preach the Gospel at the new Paris Bercy Auditorium (the Palais Omnisport in Bercy was brand new at the time). He is looking for a team of highly-motivated youth, willing to work without being really well-paid, so I thought of you!” I didn’t know Billy Graham at all, but I joyfully accepted. So that’s how my first job in life came to be preparing an evangelism crusade that would affect tens of thousands of lives in Paris and also many others by satellite retransmission.

My work was really very insignificant. My main job was to stamp letters, and since the machine was very noisy, I was relegated to a garage next to the offices. Often, I prayed for the people who would receive these letters. I was a very young convert and my attitude was far from excellent. Sometimes, I complained as I did my job, and unfortunately, I was also negligent. Nevertheless, these people trusted me even though I was the youngest member of the team. I learned a lot about serving God, about organization, about teamwork, about the big, multi-denominational family of God, and especially, about evangelism. On certain evenings, I had the great privilege, for a twenty-one year old, to sit on the stage and see thousands of people respond to the call. And it was there, on that stage at Bercy, that I said to Jesus. “I, too, want to be a soul-winner. Use my life, use me so that others know you!”

And this is what God has done! He has made me an evangelist, and my passion, which has not changed, is to see men and women find Jesus. And it is by means of the Internet and computers that this is happening! God has blessed me beyond my expectations by allowing me, with this great team around me, to see so many people come to him through the website KnowingGod.net. It now exists in sixteen languages. Glory to God! I know that this has been possible because the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) had confidence in me. Today, I would like to give back to them a “return on their investment”.

In a few days, I am going to meet Franklin Graham (the president of BGEA) and offer his organization a KnowingGod website that our team has specifically designed to reach the USA and the wider English-speaking world.

The meeting will take place on September 21st at 10.30 am (East Coast Time). I would really like for you to pray for this appointment. I believe that it is a time set by God from all eternity, and I would not want us to miss what God wants to do. Thanks for supporting your French friend so that I can represent you well. Stéphane, the coordinator of the TopChrétien web portal, will accompany me.

Will you pray for us?

Be blessed!

Your friend,

Eric

*** God is going to visit Turkey ***

Ephesus, Colosse, Philadelphia, Laodicea, Antioch… do these names mean anything to you? If you read Paul’s epistles in the New Testament, you are familiar with these names. But did you know that these cities are geographically situated in what is Turkey today? One of the cradles of Christianity has hardly any Christians today! In Turkey, Christians represent less than 1 in 1000. Of the 72 million inhabitants, 99% are Muslims and only 4,000 are protestant Christians!

Sunday, April 18th, was a day of prayer for Turkey. On this date, only three years ago, three of our brothers were assassinated in Turkey because of their faith and their commitment to the cause of the Gospel.

The blood of the martyrs is also a seed of life. When we launched the KnowingGod website in Turkish, the number of Christians was estimated at 3000. That was in November 2008. Every day the Turkish Internet users’ thirst to know Jesus astonishes me. In 18 months, the website has received more than 1.5 million visitors from Turkey. Of this number, more than 100,000 have indicated a desire to go further in their spiritual walk with Jesus. Our on-site partner has followed up on more than 13,000 people.  For many Turks, the Internet is the only means of knowing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Of course, we have met with a lot of opposition, and Turkish hackers are having the time of their lives trying to “sink” Allahitanimak.Jesus.net. Fortunately, Megaphone is very effective in managing our servers.

I believe that God is going to visit Turkey again, and that the church is going to be reborn from its ashes in Turkey. I believe that the Internet is going to contribute greatly. Besides, we have just launched a new website to follow-up on all those who have visited the KnowingGod website in Turkish.

This site in English, called Why Jesus?, is a four-week course. In certain countries, it has been unbelievably effective with up to 80% of the participants joining a local church or an Alpha Course.

Would you take a moment and pray for Turkey? Watch this video. I am sure that it will motivate you to pray for the people of this great country.

Leave a comment, a prayer, or an encouraging word on this blog for our brothers and sisters in Turkey. We will send these to them.

With you in the harvest,

Eric

*** Charisma-Part 2… ***

Just now, a conference called Empowered 21 is being held in Tulsa, in the USA. It’s the first time that we have a display booth in the USA! Here is our volunteer American team taking care of the booth. It’s a modest beginning, but it’s the opportunity for us to present the Jesus.net Widget that we are launching in English. Come get a sneak-preview here: www.jesus.net. This widget is very special, and I will speak to you about it in an upcoming TopBlog.

In the photo, here are two of our volunteers in the USA. To the left on the screen is the Jesus.net Widget and to the right is Google Earth with the real-time decisions.

In the meantime, I invite you to read the second part of the interview given to the American magazine, Charisma. You can read the first part here.

4. What is your reaction, or what would you like to say, about the fact that the 1.7 million people have clicked to accept Jesus as a result of the Website?

I am simply amazed and blessed. We have developed an application that enables us to watch real-time decisions through Google Earth. (See decisions.jesus.net) At least once every minute, someone says “YES” to Jesus. I praise God all the time. I am just a humble pastor in the small country of France, but now our team has a global impact. It’s such a blessing! A verse from the Scriptures really touched me when I started this ministry. It is 2 Corinthians 12:9 (New International Version) “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” You have to know that from the start of this Internet Ministry, I have experienced many spiritual attacks. The week we started, I was struck seriously ill and lay in a hospital with the doctors not knowing if I would survive! So, I know that it’s the grace of God. His grace is enough! It’s not and will never be Eric’s ministry. It’s Jesus’ Ministry!

5. Has any other web-based ministry ever helped this many people come to the Lord in so short an amount of time?

Yes! We are not alone in this endeavor. Campus Crusade for Christ is doing a great work for the Kingdom through their websites, such as EveryStudent.com or Jesus2020.com. LifeChurch with its iPhone Bible application is also doing well. We often collaborate with these organizations because they are innovators! We need more internet pioneers in the Kingdom, more Evangelist Entrepreneurs, and more Spirit-filled initiatives!

6. The story for Charisma magazine is about how new technological innovations are impacting the Church and the way it shares the Good News with the world. What do you see happening in this regard?

Today, we live in a global village. The Holy Spirit is starting little fires all around the world, and through the Internet, we can know about it in real time! I really believe that Americans have a strategic role to play by blowing on these little fires; blowing through prayer, through offerings, through technology, and through partnerships. With the help of Charisma readers and others, I believe that we will go to the next level. Our vision is big. By the year 2020, we believe it is possible to expose one billion seekers to the Gospel and see 100 million new believers in Jesus – all on the Internet! I believe that we will see it happen!

7. What else would you like to say?

I am French, but I love the American people. You always have the “We can do it!” attitude. I love it! As Christians, we need to seize the opportunity of the Internet age. The largest unreached people group in the entire world is those under the age of 30 years old – The Internet Generation! There is a dying world, and we can reach it. So let’s do it together! If you have a website, just go to widget.jesus.net and request your free Jesus.net widget today. You will then become part of this global harvest! If you don’t have a website, invite your friends to Jesus.net and see what God does in their lives! If you are on facebook, become a fan of facebook.com/jesus.net and spread the Word to the world!
